Rome, GA (July 20, 2009) - The West Virginia Power used a pair of three run innings on Monday night at State Mutual Stadium and snapped a seven game losing streak, finishing their eight game trip with an 8-3 victory over the Braves for their first win at State Mutual Stadium in six years.

The Braves plated the first two runs of the game to take an early lead. With runners at the corners and one out in the bottom of the first, the Braves attempted a double steal. Josue Peley threw Jadiel Santamarria out at second but Joel Campusano scored on the play to give the Braves a 1-0 edge. Santamarria reached on a fielder's choice in the second inning and brought in Ryan Barba to double the Braves' advantage.

West Virginia got their first trio of runs in the top of the fourth to take the lead. Austin McClune extended his hitting streak to seven games with a run scoring single before Greg Picart's groundout scored Kyle Morgan to tie the game at 2-2. With McClune on third and two out, Peley put a bunt down on the infield grass which induced an errant throw from David Francis, allowing McClune to score. The Braves tied the game a half inning later when Barba was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

The Power answered a half inning later with another three-run frame to take the lead for good. Morgan drove in the go ahead run on a double and scored along with Jeremy Farrell later in the inning on Picart's two-out base hit. West Virginia added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth inning. Starling Marte and Robbie Grossman were both in scoring position with the infield drawn in when Quincy Latimore belted a single through the left side of the infield to plate the final two runs of the game.

Noah Krol (2-0) tossed three scoreless innings of one hit ball in relief and struck out a pair of batters to secure the victory. David Francis (3-5) was tagged for six runs on nine hits over four and two-thirds and suffered the loss. Diego Moreno closed the game for the Power, holding the Braves scoreless over the last two innings while fanning three batters.

West Virginia improved to 39-54 overall, and 12-11 in the second half after the victory, while the Braves fell to 44-51 overall and 9-16 in the second half after the loss. Quincy Latimore and Kyle Morgan paced the Power with three-hits a piece. Latimore has hit safely in his last six games.
