Walters to Play in All-Star Game

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Knighthawks forward Joe Walters will play in the Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game on Thursday, July 16th at 10:00 p.m. ET at Denver's INVESCO Field. The fourth-year outdoor pro will play for the "Old School" team. Fans can watch the game, and Walters, live on ESPN2 and TSN2.

Walters, a Rochester native, is second on the Toronto Nationals and ninth in Major League Lacrosse with 30 points (16+2+12) in nine games. Walters is one of five Knighthawks playing for the Toronto Nationals (4-5). Forward Shawn Williams has six goals and four assists in seven games with Toronto, while Gary Gait has chipped in two goals in three games and Craig Point has three shots in one appearance.

Rochester forward John Grant is also expected to make his return to the MLL on Saturday, July 18th in the Nationals' game at Long Island at 8:00 p.m. Grant has not played in the MLL since he helped the Rochester Rattlers win the MLL title on August 24, 2008. The Peterborough, Ontario, native missed the entire National Lacrosse League season after having three surgeries with the last being reconstructive knee surgery in January. Grant has played in two games with his summer indoor team, the Peterborough Lakers, and has five goals and five assists.

This past season, Walters made his National Lacrosse League debut with his hometown team. He played in 15 games and collected eight goals, 12 assists and 50 loose balls. Gait made his return to the NLL after a three-year layoff. In 2009, he finished third on the team in goals (22) and fourth on the team in points (37) in 11 games. Williams led the Knighthawks with 93 points and set a team record with 67 assists. Point, who was acquired from Minnesota, appeared in 10 games and registered 17 goals and 11 assists with the K-Hawks. With the Minnesota Swarm he scored two goals and added six assists in four games.
