River Bandits baseball is full of family-friendly activities, one of countless reasons that parents are more than happy to indulge their children with an outing to the ballpark on a picture-perfect summer day on the banks of the Mississippi River.

After July 26, those same parents might have a bit more trouble than usual tearing their kids away from Modern Woodmen Park when the time comes to return home.

Kids' wildest dreams will come true on July 26 with the inaugural Mega-Candy Drop, as candy will literally be falling from the sky! After the 6:00 p.m. U.S. Bank Family Sunday contest against the Great Lakes Loons, the playing surface will be cleared and every kid in attendance will be invited to line up in the Party Plaza.

The event will open with a helicopter from Rotor View Helicopters, piloted by Jay Brent, making its way over Modern Woodmen Park to drop candy on the outfield so that it rains lolly pops and gummy bears! Then, once he is finished, all of the youngsters, who will be separated by age, will have a chance to run to a specific part of the field to grab as much candy as they possibly can. But the fun does not stop there. While the happy children gather their sweets, the helicopter will do another flyover to drop marshmallows from high above - making it rain puffy white goodness!

"I've always said that we are in the memory-making business, and having it rain down marshmallows while kids get to grab as much candy as they possibly can is definitely something our youngest fans will remember for years to come," said team owner Dave Heller. "The idea of dropping candy from the sky is something that Bob Herrfeldt and I have wanted to do for a long time, and we are excited that everything is coming together to make it happen. This really will be a ‘must-see' event."

"As far as I know, a spectacle like this has never been done around Minor League Baseball," said Vice President and General Manager Kirk Goodman. "We are always looking for new and innovative promotions, and this one is going to be a lot of fun. I'm not sure who is going to have a better time, the kids grabbing their candy or the fans that stick around to watch the scene unfold."

UP NEXT: The homestand concludes with a special 1:00 p.m. start time on Monday with a Summer Camp Day and Harry Potter Day! The River Bandits will then take Tuesday off before embarking on a six-game road trip to Dayton and Fort Wayne beginning on Wednesday.
