Jordan Danks Named to Southern League All-Star Team

HOOVER - The Southern League announced prior to Tuesday night's game that Barons outfielder Jordan Danks will replace David Cook in the 2009 Southern League All-Star Game.

The top outfield prospect in the White Sox farm system, Danks went into Tuesday night's game with a .308 average in 33 games since being promoted to Birmingham from Winston-Salem. He has four home runs and 12 RBI.

Danks' addition to the South Division roster gives the Barons a league-high 12 All-stars. His position and spot in the batting order has not yet been determined. Cook, who was promoted to Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday night, was also scheduled to take part in the 2009 Home Run Derby on July 12 at Rickwood Field. His replacement for the Home Run Derby has yet to be announced.

Tickets to the 2009 Southern League All-Star Game as well as to the 2009 Southern League Home Run Derby and Celebrity Softball Game are available on the Barons website or by calling the Regions Park Box Office. Tickets for both events can also be purchased by visiting the Regions Park Box Office.

The 2009 Southern League All-Star Game will be played on Monday, July 13 at Regions Park in Birmingham, AL. The Barons won the South Division First-Half Title and will open the playoffs on Thursday, September 10 at Regions Park. Game two will be played Friday, September 11 at Regions Park.
