Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
KANNAPOLIS, NC - The Intimidators looked sluggish at the plate for the second straight night, as Delmarva cruised to a 5-1 win on Monday night at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium.
Kannapolis was held to one run on Sunday in a 3-1 defeat and things did not improve much on Monday. The Intimidators managed a third inning run against Delmarva starter Nathan Moreau, but nothing more.
For the second consecutive night, it was Drew Garcia providing all the offense, as the Intimidators second baseman scored Eduardo Escobar from third with two outs. But Moreau (2-2) was in command the rest of the way. The southpaw lasted 5 2/3 innings and gave up just five hits.
Stephen Sauer (4-3) was the tough-luck loser for the Intimidators. The right-hander allowed three runs, though just one earned in his seven innings of work on five hits. He also struck out five, but walked a season-high three batters.
Rodolfo Cardona led the Delmarva offensive attack, driving in a pair of runs. Cardona laid down a perfect bunt on a suicide squeeze in the eighth inning to give the Shorebirds their final four-run cushion.
