The Cedar Rapids managed to stave off the late rains at Pohlman Field with a 4-1 victory over the Beloit Snappers Tuesday night.
Snappers' starting pitcher Brad Tippett had a solid outing as he went six innings giving up only one unearned with four strike outs.
The Snappers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third as centerfielder Aaron Hicks singled home Drew Thompson.
The Kernels eventually tied the game at one in the fifth as Roberto Lopez doubled to left as Alexi Amarista scored from third after swiping two consecutive bases.
With the score tied at one headed into the ninth the Kernels scored three runs to take the game 4-1.
