Coleman Drives Tennessee to Win, 5-3

Mobile, A.L. -The Smokies (27-35) ride the arm of Casey Coleman to a 5-3 win in Mobile (35-28), Friday night at Hank Aaron Stadium. Casey Coleman pitched the first seven innings strong and Brian Schlitter struck out the final two batters of the contest to nail down the win for Tennessee.

Casey Coleman (6-2) pitched a gem for the Smokies going 7 innings in the start. He allowed just one run on only five hits with a walk and four strikeouts.

Wes Roemer (2-5) was the starter for Mobile and pitched 6 innings in the outing. Roemer yielded ten hits and four runs with three base-on-balls and two strikeouts.

The Smokies scored in the top of the second inning to lead 1-0. Darwin Barney singled home Ty Wright with two outs in the frame.

Mobile tied the contest in the bottom of the fourth inning. Sean Coughlin lined a homerun to right center field and just over the wall.

Jim Adduci put Tennessee back on top with a two run double in the fifth. Coleman bunted his way aboard to get things started then Tony Thomas doubled setting the tabled for Adduci.

Barney hit a sacrifice fly to center scoring Blake Lalli which extended the Smokies lead in the sixth inning to 4-1.

Lalli dropped a run scoring single to centerfield with two down in the seventh plating Adduci and Tennessee lead 5-1.

Brian Schlitter (9) entered the game in the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded and only one out with Tennessee ahead by two. He struck out the next two BayBears batters looking for the save.

Tennessee is back at Smokies Park for a 5-game home stand starting Wednesday June 17th. The series will be against the Cincinnati Reds affiliate Carolina Mudcats and will be the final home stand of the first half.
