Aces Open 15th Year Of Pro Hockey October 16

June 11, 2009 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces will be celebrating their 15th year of bringing professional hockey to the 49th state when they play host to Victoria Friday, October 16 in the 2009-10 season opener.

Last Friday, the Aces concluded their 14th pro season with a 4-2 loss to South Carolina in Game 7 of the Kelly Cup Finals, a thrilling series in which six of the seven games were not decided until the final two minutes of regulation. Training camp for 2009 looms in less than four months.

The Oct. 16 season opener offers the first of 25 weekend games for the Sullivan Arena faithful, who watched the Aces roll up a 28-7-1 record at home during the 2008-09 regular season. All home games will start at 7:15 p.m., with the exception of four Sunday tilts, which begin at 5:05 p.m. to allow for the popular "Skate with the Aces" promotion immediately following the contest.

Other featured games at Sullivan Arena include a Halloween match-up against Idaho and a New Year's Eve duel with Ontario. The regular season finale also will be at home for the first time in three years, April 3 vs. Stockton. Alaska plays Idaho 12 times and Utah on only eight occasions. The Aces face Victoria, Las Vegas, and Ontario 11 times, Stockton 10 times, and Bakersfield on nine occasions. The complete schedule is shown below, with home games in CAPS and all times AT.
