Outfielder Emil Brown Aquired by New York Mets

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Beavers outfielder Emil Brown today was acquired by the New York Mets in exchange for a player to be named later. Brown was assigned to the Mets' Triple-A Buffalo affiliate.

Brown, 34, hit .260 with 13 doubles, four home runs, 22 RBIs and 22 runs scored in 41 games with the Beavers this season. In two seasons with Portland (2001, 2009), Brown batted .281 with 21 doubles, two triples, seven home runs, 30 RBIs and 32 runs scored over 63 games.

Originally signed by Oakland as a sixth-round pick in the 1994 draft, Brown has appeared in parts of nine seasons in the major leagues with Pittsburgh (1997-2001), San Diego (2001), Kansas City (2005-07) and Oakland (2008).

Today's move brings the Beavers' active roster to 23 players.
