Wilmington Blue Rocks News Release

Wilmington, DE - Wilmington Blue Rocks starting pitcher Everett Teaford has been named the Carolina League Pitcher of the Week for games played between May 18 and May 24.

Teaford earned the honor by winning both of his starts over that span. The first victory came on May 18 over Salem. The left-hander tossed six innings of shutout ball and struck out five, as the Rocks beat the Red Sox 5-2. He gave up just one hit and one walk while facing one over the minimum as he picked off two men at first base.

His second win came on Saturday over the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Teaford again fanned five while limiting Myrtle Beach to only a pair of earned runs and just four hits in 6.1 frames of work. The Rocks eventually took that contest, 6-5.

Teaford's two victories improved his season record to 5-1, and lowered his ERA to 2.60. The Alpharetta, GA native is tied for third in the Carolina League in wins, and is fifth in earned run average. He is scheduled to make his next start on Friday as the Rocks host the Pelicans at 7:05 p.m.

Wilmington begins a stretch of 13 homes games in the next 16 days tonight at 6:35 p.m. as it welcomes the Frederick Keys to town. For tickets call 302-888-BLUE (2583), or visit bluerocks.com.
