With the game tied 4-4 in the fifth inning, Austin Gallagher hit a two-run home run to give the Loons the lead. The inning had been extended by an error on shortstop Terry Serrano. The Loons later tallied two more runs in the fifth on a dropped fly ball by right fielder Denny Almonte.

The Loons scored the game's first two runs in the second on an RBI single by Parker Dalton and a ground out by Dee Gordon.

But the LumberKings responded with a four-run third. Dalton was charged with two bad-hop errors and all runs were unearned.
