Fifth Third Bank Celebrates Opening Day

May 19, 2009 - Frontier League (FL) Evansville Otters

May 19, 2009, Evansville, IN - Fifth Third Bank is proud to sponsor opening night at Bosse Field once again this year. Fifth Third Bank will be hosting the 53,000 penny pick-up at the conclusion of the game for the kids to participate in on the field.

In addition, to the penny pick-up Fifth Third Bank and the Evansville Otters have teamed up with the Tri-State Food Bank for a food drive named "5,300 Meals: The Ultimate Deposit." The goal of the drive is to provide at least 5,300 meals to the hungry of the tri-state area. Area residents are encouraged to participate in the food drive by bringing non-perishable food items to Bosse Field's main entrance, where a Tri-State Food Pantry vehicle will be parked up front accepting donations.

"This is my sixth Fifth Third Opening Night here at Bosse Field and I'm glad that Fifth Third Bank continues to support the Otters and by adding the food drive it shows Fifth Third Bank's dedication to helping the community," said Liam Miller, General Manager Evansville Otters.

"With the economy the way it is right now, times are tough for everyone. I have faith that all of our hearts and arms will be extended to those who need it the most," stated Sean Thompson, new left-handed pitcher.

In addition, a member of the Tri-State Food Bank's "Kids Café" will be throwing out the first pitch on opening night. The Kids Café is a structured nutritional program that provides year round meals for "at risk" children.
