TODAY: The RedHawks' lineup is expected to include 2008 American League MVP candidate Josh Hamilton as the 27-year-old outfielder begins a brief medical rehab assignment in game 3 of a series with the Round Rock Express. The RedHawks are toiling through a season-high 4-game losing streak and have dropped 7 of their last 8. OKC has fallen to a season-high 3 1/2 games back of the lead in the American South Division and occupies the fourth and final spot in the division. Righthander Yorman Bazardo gets the call for the Express. It will be his first career start against the RedHawks.

Josh Hamilton L-L 6-4, 235 Born: May 21, 1981, Raleigh, NC

Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton is expected to begin a Major League rehab assignment today. Hamilton is on the Rangers' 15-day DL with a strained intercostal muscle in his left rib cage area. He was placed on the DL May 1, retroactive to April 27, and is eligible to return on Tuesday when Texas begins a series at home against Seattle. Hamilton sustained the injury running into the outfield wall at Toronto's Rogers Centre on April 21. He attempted to play for several days before finally going on the DL after a pinch-hit at bat April 26. Hamilton's Texas Rangers Media Guide bio will be available in the press box.

Here are some 2008 highlights from the Rangers' guide:

n Last season was his first with Texas and first as an everyday major leaguer after playing 90 games for Cincinnati in 2007 in his major league debut.

n Acquired from Cincinnati for pitchers Edinson Volquez and Danny Ray Herrera on Dec. 21, 2007.

n Batted .304 with 32 home runs, 130 RBIs and 35 doubles. Led the A.L. in RBIs and tied for the lead in total bases (331) while being named a starter for the All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium.

n Named A.L. Player of the Month for April and May, the first American Leaguer honored in each of the first two months of a season since the award's inception in 1974.

n Voted Rangers Player of the Year by the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of the BBWAA, named the Player's Choice Award winner as the A.L.'s outstanding player and chosen as a Silver Slugger. n Finished seventh in A.L. MVP voting.

n Led all three Triple Crown categories through games of June 2, the first time an American Leaguer had led that deep into the season since Boston's Manny Ramirez topped all three through games of June 3, 2001.

n Hit 28 homers in the first round of the All-Star Game's Home Run Derby, the most ever in the event's opening round. Eventually lost in the final round to Minnesota's Justin Morneau.

n Had 2 grand slams (April 30, K.C.'s Brian Bannister; May 27, T.B.'s J.P. Howell) and one walk-off homer (July 9, Los Angeles-AL's Francisco Rodriguez).
