Hagerstown, MD - Calvin Anderson hit West Virginia's first Grand Slam of the season in the fourth inning of Saturday night's game against the Hagerstown Suns, capping a six run frame for the Power en route to a 10-4 victory in the opening game of the series at Municipal Stadium.

The Power took the lead early on and never looked back. Jeremy Farrell drove in West Virginia's first two runs on a two-out single in the top of the first inning. In the second, Robbie Grossman extended his hitting streak to ten games with a two-out single and scored on Quincy Latimore's fourth triple of the season. The Suns got on the board in the bottom of the second when Robby Jacobsen scored on Tyler Moore's sacrifice fly.

Austin McClune started and ended the six run fourth inning for the Power. Grossman reached on a fielder's choice which allowed McClune to score before Latimore's base hit plated Josue Peley. Anderson's Grand Slam capped the big inning, it was his fourth homer of the season. West Virginia got their final run in the ninth inning when Anderson scored on Greg Picart's sacrifice fly.

The Suns scored three times over the final two innings, but it was too little, too late. Steven Souza ripped an RBI single in the eighth after Jacobsen scored on Farrell's errant throw. Jose Lozada scored the games final run on Sandy Leon's groundout in the bottom of the ninth.

Rudy Owens (3-1) tossed six strong innings to get the victory. He allowed just a run on four hits and struck out six. His three victories are a team best. Paul Demny (0-1) was tagged with the loss after surrendering seven runs on seven hits over three and a third.

West Virginia improved to 8-20 with the win, and the Suns fell to 11-14 after the loss. Quincy Latimore paced the Power with a 3-for-4 performance.
