Harrisburg City Islanders Newsletter

April 21, 2009 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Penn FC News Release

Get ready! The City Islanders are only days away from their Home Opener! On Saturday, April 25th the Harrisburg City Islanders will host the Western Mass Pioneers at Skyline Sports Complex on City Island. Kickoff is 7:05 pm.

The Islanders are coming off a hard fought game against the Kickers in Richmond. Steve Fisher got off to a strong offensive start, scoring once and assisting on Oduor's goal in the 2-2 tie. The team will look to notch their first win of the 2009 season against the Pioneers. Last season's series ended at 0-0-2.

With the forecast predicting beautiful Island soccer weather, bring your family and friends out for a night of fun on City Island. Bricker's French Fries, Dafnos Italian Grille, Catering by Daniel and Rita's Italian Ice will provide the dinner and dessert combination that is perfect for a soccer game. Turkey Hill drink products and Troegs Beer will also be sold.

There will be plenty of things for the Islanders' younger fans to do as well. A new tropical table will be set up for the surfer boys and hula girls to create posters wishing their favorite Islanders good luck. Kids will also have the opportunity to get their face painted, ok adults too! Before the game, kids are invited to go onto the field for player introductions. After the game, make sure you have your Islanders' merchandise ready, as players will be signing autographs on the field.

To ring in the new season, the City Islanders will host a number of groups Saturday night! The City Islanders Academy Super Y teams will be there to celebrate the kickoff of their own season. The always rowdy Sons of Ben, the fan club of Philadelphia's future Major League Soccer team, will be bringing their passion to our Island as they travel to Harrisburg to cheer on the Islanders. Other groups in attendance will be the Donegal Youth Soccer, HMMS Soccer Club, LVC women's soccer team, Palmyra Area High School, York County Men's Soccer, and more!

Don't let the fun end at the final whistle. Fans over 21 can meet the team at Sam Bucca's Pizza Pub on 2nd Street downtown Harrisburg shortly following the game.
