Steelheads Ousted By Victoria

Victoria, BC- The Idaho Steelheads fell in overtime to the Victoria Salmon Kings by a 2-1 score in front of 4,973 fans at the Save-On Foods Memorial Centre; with the win, the Salmon Kings complete a four-game sweep of the Steelheads in the West Division Semifinals, ending the Steelheads' 2008-09 season.

The first period yielded one goal: Darrell Hay put Idaho on the board first with a power play goal, his first of the playoffs, assisted by Mark Bomersback and Ben Nelson. Matt Climie was also perfect between the pipes stopping 13-of-13 Victoria shots to secure a lead for the Steelheads entering the middle frame.

Adam Taylor tied the game for Victoria at 8:23 of the third period. Sean Landolt and Sean O'Connor assisted on the goal.

After stellar goaltending from both teams, the game was eventually forced to overtime. At 12:56, Matt Kelly solved Matt Climie for the OT winner with a shot through traffic. Assisting on the goal were Wes Goldie and Olivier LaBelle.

Climie stopped 38 of 40 shots in the game. Todd Ford stopped 31 of 32 for the win.
