Odessa quickly got out to a fast lead with QB Dennis Gile hooking up with WR Torrey Day in the first quarter with a 28-yard touchdown pass. On the ensuing drive, Abilene Ruff Riders QB Quincy Carter lost the handle on a snap and Roughnecks DL Steven Kennedy returned it 12 yards for a touchdown to give Odessa a 14-0 lead.

"I felt good about our first string tonight, but overall I would rather have the win." stated Odessa Roughnecks Head Coach, Chris Williams.
