Tomas Kana and Jim Jackson Assigned to ECHL Clubs

PEORIA, Ill. (March 5, 2009) - Peoria Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced today the St. Louis Blues have reassigned forward Tomas Kana to the Alaska Aces and the club has loaned defenseman Jim Jackson to the Gwinnett Gladiators.

Kana, 22, has appeared in 18 games this season for the Rivermen and accounted for one goal and 15 penalty minutes. This will be his third assignment this season the Alaska where he has posted 13 points (4g, 9a) in 18 games. Originally drafted by the Blues in the second round (#31 overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Kana made his North American debut by playing 12 games in Alaska last year.

Jackson, 28, returns to Gwinnett where he has spent parts of four seasons since 2003-04. With the Gladiators, the native of Marquette, Mich. has appeared in 226 career games and produced 114 points (52g, 62a). With the Rivermen this year, Jackson had 12 points (2g, 10a) in 32 games.

The Rivermen are at home to take on the Chicago Wolves on Friday at 7:00 p.m. It is Rivermen Hall of Fame Night as Don Granato and Joe Rybar are inducted as well as WWE Legends Night with an appearance from "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, Koko B.
