Bombers Stung By South Carolina 4-1

Dayton, OH - The Dayton Bombers fell to the South Division's South Carolina Stingrays 4-1 on Wednesday night at the Nutter Center.
Greg Labenski opened scoring just four minutes into the game on the power play as he first a shot from Kelly Perrault and Jarret Lukin past Stingrays goalie Jonathan Boutin. The lead was preserved when netminder David Shantz stopped a Stingrays penalty shot However, South Carolina surged with three goals in the period to take a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes of play.
An equally paced second period garnered 11 shots from the Stingrays and 10 from the Bombers, although neither team managed to find the back of the net.
In the third, the Stingrays added their second power play goal of the game at 4:19 to increase their lead to 4-1. Fans were treated to some fisticuffs late in the game when reigning "Fan Favorite" Britt Dougherty and Spencer Carbery clashed in the closing minute of regulation.
Dayton's Shantz was 27 of 31 for the loss, ending his three-game win streak. For South Carolina, Boutin went 25 of 26. Dayton finished 1 of 7 on the power play and was 75% on the penalty kill.
The Bombers are next on the ice for a pair of games against the Cincinnati Cyclones on Friday, February 20 and Saturday, February 21 at 7:30 p.m. at US Bank Arena.
Action returns to the Nutter Center next Wednesday, February 25 when the Elmira Jackals come to town for a 7:30 p.m. match up.
