Blades add forward McJannet; Lose Swee tland to AHL

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Malcolm Cameron announced that forward Steve McJannet has been signed to a contract and that forward Andrew Sweetland has been recalled by the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.
McJannet joins the Everblades as the player to be named later in the trade with Elmira before the season opened in which the Everblades sent defenseman Wes Cunningham to the Jackals. McJannet, who turns 27 on January 11, spent the last two seasons playing in the ECHL with the Columbia Inferno where he posted 54 points (26g, 28a) and 131 penalty minutes in 100 games.
Last season McJannet had a solid season while helping lead the Inferno to the South Division Finals. The Katana, Ontario native had 36 points (16g, 20a) and 105 PIM in 54 regular season games and tallied 12 points (1g, 11a) in 13 Kelly Cup Playoff games.
Prior to turning pro McJannet spent four years at Lake Superior State University where he notched 41 points in 133 games. His best collegiate season came during his senior season when he tallied 15 points in 35 games in 2005-06. During his four-year career at Lake Superior State Univeristy McJannet was a team mate of current Everblade Colin Nicholson.
In a separate transaction Sweetland was recalled by the Florida Panther to Rochester. The 22-year-old had played in six games with the Everblades since being assigned to the team from Rochester on Dec. 16. Sweetland posted two goals and two assists with the Everblades. The Bonavista, Nova Scotia native began his rookie campaign with the Amerks where he had one assist in 21 games.
