Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announce the Salmon Kings' third annual Teddy Bear Toss will be held on December 14th along with the kick start of the Salmon Kings' Holiday Charity Fundraising Campaign that runs throughout the month.

On Sunday, December 14th, the Salmon Kings will be hosting their third annual Teddy Bear Toss. When the Salmon Kings score their first goal, fans are asked to throw a stuffed animal onto the ice surface.

All stuffed animals collected at the game will be donated to a local children's charity just in time for Christmas. Make sure to remember you stuffed animal and support this worthwhile cause!

Stick around after Sunday's game for our second Skate with the Salmon Kings this season. You can rent skates for a nominal donation or bring your own pair to get out on the ice with your favourite players. (Don't forget your helmet)

The Salmon Kings' Holiday Charity Fundraising Campaign will also be held throughout the entire month of December.

One part of the event has the Salmon Kings holding a nightly food drive in support of the Mustard Seed Food Bank. Bring a non-perishable food item to a game and drop it in one of the food hampers that will be located at each of the gates at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

The Mustard Seed has provided a list of items in constant demand: Cereal, flour, sugar, canned fruit and vegetables, dried peas and beans, canned meats and soups, all kinds of pasta and rice, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, shampoo, toothpaste, toilet paper, soap, baby diapers, formula, canned and jarred baby food.

Japan Camera will be on site allowing fans the opportunity to have a Christmas photo taken with Marty the Marmot, the Salmon Kings mascot. All money raised will also go to The Mustard Seed.

The Salvation Army will also be on hand collecting donations to help brighten Christmas for thousands of families in Victoria and nationwide by providing food and toys for the children. They will be collecting donations in their Christmas Kettles, a great way for that spare change in your pocket to help others.

The Salmon Kings take on the Phoenix RoadRunners tonight at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m.
