Condors Hockey Reaches Final Four in Greatest Thing About Bakersfield

Another issue of Bakersfield Life Magazine has been released and Condors Hockey has advanced another round in the "Greatest Thing About Bakersfield" readers' poll. The Condors have defeated the Beale Library, Merle Haggard, the Fox Theater and Luigi's to reach the semifinals, where they now face Dewar's. Voters will have until Nov. 30 to cast their ballots. The final match-up to determine the Greatest Thing About Bakersfield will be announced in the December issue of Bakersfield Life Magazine.

Week in Review:

Condors mascot Colonel Claw'd had a busy week, meeting with students from Williams and Longfellow Elementary Schools on Wednesday and Thursday. On Saturday, Condors mascot Baby Cal attended the Floor Hockey Tournament at the Kern County Special Olympics, meeting kids with disabilities and giving out plenty of hugs. Later that day, Baby Cal served as the honorary bell ringer at the Marketplace for the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Drive.

On Sunday, the Colonel participated in the Kern County Family Week Creative Expression Award ceremony. The Colonel, along with Kern Supervisor Mike Maggard, and representatives from State Senator Roy Ashburn and Dean Flores's office, congratulated the winners on stage as they received their awards. On Monday, Head Coach Marty Raymond spoke to students at California State University on the philosophies of coaching and dealing with professional athletes.

This Week in Condorstown:

Monday, Nov. 17: Turn your radio dial to 98.5 The Fox to catch Head Coach Marty Raymond chat with Anne Kelly all afternoon from approximately 3:30 to 6 p.m. They will discuss Condors hockey as well other subjects only Anne Kelly would dare to ask Coach Raymond.

Wednesday, Nov. 19: The "Voice of the Condors" Kevin Bartl will join Corey Costelloe on "Home Turf" at 4:15 p.m. to discuss the two road games in Phoenix and the home game on Saturday vs. the RoadRunners.

Thursday, Nov. 20: Catch Community Relations Manager Brian Marsh on ESPN Deportes 1490 AM at noon as he talks about Condors hockey and the upcoming visit from the Oakland Raiderettes.

Thursday, Nov. 20: Condors mascot Colonel Claw'd will take on the after school program at Washington Middle School in a game of musical chairs and see how low he can go in a limbo contest from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m.

Thursday, Nov. 20: The Condors Coach's Show will air on ESPN Radio 1230 from 5 to 6 p.m. from Phoenix as the team is on the road. The Coach's Show will feature Condors players and Head Coach Marty Raymond, and is hosted by the "Voice of the Condors," Kevin Bartl.

Friday, Nov. 21: Get up with the sun to see a Condors player (TBD) appear on No Bull Mornings on ABC23 at 6:50 a.m. to talk about Condors hockey and welcome the Oakland Raiderettes to Bakersfield.

Saturday, Nov. 22: The Condors return to The Nest after a five-game road trip to take on the Phoenix RoadRunners for a night with the Oakland Raiderettes, sponsored by ABC23, 98.5 The Fox and Cal Water. The Raiderettes will bring their dance moves to the ice for all Condorstown to see and will also be in the Condors Photo Booth to pose for pictures and sign autographs. Doors open at 6 p.m., puck drops at 7 p.m.

Monday, Nov. 24: The "Voice of the Condors," Kevin Bartl, will appear on "There It Is! The Jake Stevens Show" at 7:45 a.m. on ESPN Radio 1230. Bartl will sit down with Stevens every Monday to discuss everything Condors hockey. "There It Is! The Jake Stevens Show" airs Monday - Friday from 7 to 9 a.m.
