The Saskatoon Blades defeated the Everett Silvertips 1-0 just 38 seconds into overtime Friday night at the Credit Union Centre. 4,360 fans were treated to a low scoring, but very entertaining hockey game where goaltending and penalty killing were the stories of the game.Blades goalie, Braden Holtby, made 25 saves for his first shutout of the season, while Silvertips goalie, Shayne Barrie, was just as impressive making 35 saves on 36 shots.
38 seconds into overtime, while the teams were playing 3 on 3 due to penalties to Derek Hulak and Kyle Beach, Milan Kytnar worked his way down the left wing getting a shot on goal and then potting his rebound past a diving Barrie.
The Blades return to action tomorrow night when they face the Moose Jaw Warriors for the first time this season. Puck drops at 7:05 PM at the Credit Union Centre, tickets are available by calling 973-7800 or by visiting ticketmaster.ca.
