October 31, 2008 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

The next chapter in the continuing partnership between Albuquerque baseball and the Los Angeles Dodgers will begin with Lorenzo Bundy as manager, who next year will become the third skipper in Albuquerque Isotopes history, the team announced today. In addition to Bundy, the 'Topes' 2009 field staff will consist of hitting coach John Moses, pitching coach Jim Slaton, and trainer Greg Harrel.

Bundy, 48, spent the last two seasons managing the Las Vegas 51s, with whom he compiled a 141-146 record. Last season Bundy led the 51s to a mark of 74-69, best among Dodgers minor league clubs, and a second-place finish in the PCL's Pacific Southern Division. Prior to joining the Los Angeles organization, the native of Philadelphia, PA spent three seasons in the Arizona Diamondbacks chain, where he served as hitting coach for Triple-A Tucson from 2004-06 and had a brief stint as bench coach for the Major League D-Backs in 2004. He also spent time as bullpen coach for the Colorado Rockies in 1999 and outfield/base-running coach for the Marlins in 1998. Bundy becomes just the third manager in the seven-year history of the Isotopes, and the 18th skipper in the history if Triple-A baseball in Albuquerque.

Taking charge of the 'Topes' hitters will be Moses, 51, who returns for a second season in the Dodgers organization after leading the 51s' offense last year to a .301 batting average, best in the PCL. The Los Angeles native joined the Dodgers after serving as an associate coach with the Seattle Mariners in 2007. A veteran of 11 Major League seasons as a player with Seattle (1982-87, 1992), Minnesota (1988-90), and Detroit (1991), Moses also spent time as bench coach for the Cincinnati Reds in 2005 and first-base coach for the Mariners from 2000-03.

Slaton, 58, returns to the Triple-A ranks after guiding Las Vegas pitchers last season. He also came to the Dodgers from the Mariners organization, where he spent 11 seasons as a coach, including three years as Seattle's bullpen coach (2004-06). Slaton spent 16 years pitching in the Major Leagues for Milwaukee (1971-77, 1979-83), Detroit (1978, 1986), and California (1984-86), compiling an overall record of 151-158. In 1977 he was named to the American League All-Star Team and in 1982 won Game 4 of the World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. He retired as Milwaukee's all-time pitching leader in games, innings-pitched, starts, and wins.

Making his Albuquerque return is trainer Harrel, 45, who spent the 2004 season with the Isotopes and the last two campaigns as trainer for the 51s. In 2007, Harrel was named Dodgers Head Minor League Athletic Trainer. A veteran of 22 seasons of professional baseball, Harrel has spent 14 years at the Triple-A level, 11 with the Oklahoma City RedHawks (Texas Rangers), one with the 'Topes, and two with Las Vegas.

The Albuquerque Isotopes, Triple-A partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, will open up their 2009 campaign on April 9 and season tickets as well as mini-plans are on sale now. For more information, please call (505) 924-2255 or visit www.albuquerquebaseball.com.
