Keys Announce 2009 Schedule

Frederick, MD - The Frederick Keys have released their schedule for the 2009 season. Opening Night at Harry Grove Stadium is set for Friday, April 17th at 7:00 p.m. against the Salem Avalanche (Boston Red Sox). The Keys will have 24 Firework shows (all weekend night games) amidst its 70-game home schedule.

The Keys will begin the 2009 campaign with an eight-game road trip beginning in Salem on Thursday, April 9th. It will be the first game for Salem as a Red Sox affiliate. After four games against the Avalanche, Frederick will travel to Myrtle Beach to take on the Pelicans (Atlanta Braves) before returning home.

All Monday through Friday games will be 7:00 p.m. game times. In April, Saturday games will begin at 2:00 p.m. In May through September, Saturday games will move to 6:00 p.m. Sunday games will be 2:00 games in April, May, August and September. In June and July, Sunday games will start at 6:00 p.m.

Notable exceptions are Education Days, Thursday, May 7th against Winston-Salem (Chicago White-Sox) and Thursday, May 14th against Myrtle Beach. Both Education Days are set for 11 a.m. starts. Thursday, July 16th against the Kinston Indians (Cleveland Indians) will be Camp Day with first pitch slated for noon.

The 2009 Carolina/California League All Star Game will be played in Lake Elsinore, CA, home of the Lake Elsinore Storm (San Diego Padres), Tuesday, June 23rd.

The Frederick Keys are entering their 21st season in the Carolina League. All 21 years the Keys have been an affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. That stretch is the second longest for the Carolina League trailing Kinston's affiliation with the Cleveland Indians that dates back to 1987. The Keys have won three Carolina League championships in their history (1990, 2005, 2007) and have played in the Mills Cup Championship Series in three of the last four seasons.

Frederick will close their home slate Thursday, September 3rd at 7:00 p.m. against Kinston. The Keys will close their 141-game season on the road Monday, September 7th against the Wilmington Blue Rocks (Kansas City Royals).
