Wheeling Nailers News Release
WHEELING, WV - The Wheeling Nailers, the 'AA' affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, announce today that the team will be going Pink this weekend to help raise money and awareness for breast cancer patients in the Ohio Valley.
The Nailers will donate $1 from every ticket sold at the box office along with the proceeds from the Pink jersey auction to be held on Saturday night following the game to Ohio Valley's Awareness Inc's Driving for a Cure.
Last season the Nailers donated over $9,000 to Ohio Valley Awareness Inc to help with local cancer patient care. OV Awareness Inc. uses the funds to provide boxed lunches to chemotherapy patients at the infusion center at The Cancer Center at OVMC. The organization is also purchasing three laptop computers for patients to use while receiving treatment.
"We fill it provides the infusion center with an added benefit that most infusion centers don't provide," said Kathy Blass, president of the Ohio Valley Awareness, Inc. "The fans were generous and donated their money. We were humbled that the Nailers would think of us to spend the funds to help cancer patients in the Ohio Valley."
The Nailers battle the defending Kelly Cup champion Cincinnati Cyclones on Friday night. They finish out the weekend with two games against the Trenton Devils on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Game time on Sunday is set for 1:35. The first 500 ladies on Saturday night will receive a pink carnation courtesy of Elm Grove flowers. The first 2500 fans on Friday and Saturday night will receive pink thunderstix courtesy of the Health Plan, OVMC Cancer Center, Ogden Newspapers, WTOV 9 and Bordas & Bordas Attorneys at Law.
To order tickets call the Nailers office at 304-234-GOAL or Online at www.wheelingnailers.com.
