Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, in their 17th season in the American Hockey League, announced that forward Greg Classen has been released from his Professional Tryout Agreement. With the move, Providence has 23 players on its roster, including 14 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders.

Classen, 31, appeared in one game for the P-Bruins, going scoreless Wednesday in the season opener against the Lowell Devils. The 10th year center and 2004 Calder Cup champion joined Providence in training camp after spending last year with the Manitoba Moose. A product of the Merrimack College Warriors, Classen had his best year in 2005-06, recording personal-highs with 24 goals and 50 points. Though undrafted, the native of Aylsham, Saskatoon has enjoyed 90 games in the National Hockey League, all with the Nashville Predators. In his pro career, Classen has 105 goals, 158 assists and 263 points in 517 games.
