LANCASTER, Pa.-Call it a seventh-inning stretch for one of minor league baseball's fastest growing companies. Opening Day Partners, long regarded as one of the industry's most experienced and innovative owners and operators, is celebrating five years of unprecedented growth with its first company-wide outing to Cooperstown, N.Y. this week.
Since 1982, Opening Day Partners (ODP), through its subsidiaries, affiliates and principles, has designed, constructed and operated more minor league ballparks than any other organization in professional baseball, and the company is currently in the midst of its fastest period of growth. In just the past five years, ODP has been responsible for $100 million in ballpark construction projects and is now operating four successful franchises in four diverse markets.
"This five-year period has been exciting for our company, and it's time to reflect on our accomplishments and reward our employees for all of their hard work," ODP president and chief operating officer Jon Danos said. "This outing gives us a chance to do that, and in an appropriate place."
The outing will feature a reception and awards dinner on Monday evening, followed by a company-wide tour of the Baseball Hall of Fame on Tuesday. More than 75 full-time employees representing ODP franchises in Camden, N.J., Lancaster and York, Pa. and Waldorf, Md. will be in attendance.
Led by chairman Peter Kirk, one of the best known minor league owners in baseball, Hall-of-Famer Brooks Robinson and Danos, ODP has welcomed more than 40 million fans in it's history.
