Charlotte, NC - The Carolina Speed made their official announcement Tuesday, September, 23rd to bring Professional Indoor Football back to the Queen City in a press conference held at Cricket Arena. In front of a packed house in "The Locker Room" the team talked about its commitment to provide football fans with an exciting, hard hitting, fun, family orientated form of entertainment at an affordable price.
When asked about the team's commitment to the City of Charlotte and it fans. Carolina Speed Owner, Eddie Littlefield stated, "The Carolina Speed is excited to be Charlotte's only Premier Professional Indoor Football team, we will be here as long as City of Charlotte and its fans want us to be here."
Littlefield, whose companies David Drye Company and Carolina Autosports have sponsored the Charlotte Eagles and Charlotte Pro Soccer for over a decade, was also excited about the unique opportunity to use both Professional Soccer and Professional Football to impact the Charlotte community. "The Eagles have been an excellent model in the way they have used professional athletes to reach out to our community on a local and international level," stated Littlefield. "We are looking forward to partnering with them to make sure this football club can help make a similar impact."
The CRVA Chief Operating Officer (COO), Michael Crum had this to say, "On behalf of the City of Charlotte and the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority, it is my pleasure to welcome the Carolina Speed to Charlotte and Cricket Arena. The product, which is about entertainment as much as it is football, is priced in a way that will be attractive to families and groups in a challenging economy. The location of Cricket Arena makes the cost of getting to a Speed game economical, as well."
