Mount Placed on DL, Bourjos Promoted, Loux to Begin Rehab

September 4, 2008 - Pacific Coast League (PCL) Salt Lake Bees

SALT LAKE CITY (September 4, 2008) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that the club has placed infielder Ryan Mount on the Disabled List with a strained right oblique and promoted infielder Peter Bourjos to Triple-A Salt Lake from Single-A Rancho Cucamonga. Right-handed pitcher Shane Loux is also on rehab assignment with Salt Lake and is scheduled to start in tomorrow night's game against the Sacramento River Cats at Franklin Covey Field.

Mount, 22, has appeared in 82 games for the Quakes in 2008, hitting .290 with 17 doubles, five triples, 16 home runs, 49 RBI and 10 stolen bases. The West Covina, Calif. native was originally selected by the Angels in the second round of the 2005 draft.

Bourjos, 21, has appeared in 121 games for the Quakes in 2008, hitting .295 with 29 doubles, 10 triples, nine home runs, 51 RBI and 50 stolen bases. The Park Ridge, Ill. native was originally selected by the Angels in the 10th round of the 2005 draft.

Loux, 29, was placed on the Disabled List on August 31 in order to recover from oral surgery. He has appeared in five games for the Angels in 2008, owning a 2.31 ERA in 11.2 innings of relief. The 2008 PCL Pitcher of the Year has appeared in 22 games for the Bees this season, owning a team-best 12-6 record with a 3.98 ERA. The Rapid City, S.D. native signed with the Angels as a free agent on November 13, 2007.

The 2008 Pacific North Division Champion Salt Lake Bees are 1-0 in the 2008 Pacific Conference Championship series and play again tonight in Sacramento at 8:05 p.m. MT before returning home tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. Playoff tickets for tomorrow are on sale now at the Franklin Covey Field box office, at slbees.com and at select Ticket Master locations.
