Local Resident to Donate over $2,000 to Special Olympics of North Carolina

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Thanks to local motivational speaker and best-selling author Steve Gilliland, the final regular season home game on Thursday, August 28 will be a special night for the Special Olympics of North Carolina.

Gilliland teamed up with the Warthogs to donate $25 for each home run hit by the Warthogs players this season. With just three home games remaining, Winston-Salem batters have hit 89 home runs, bringing the Special Olympics donation total to $2,225.

Gilliland will present the check to Special Olympics of North Carolina President Keith Fishburne and several local Special Olympians during an in-game ceremony on Thursday.

Gilliland was recently recognized by Who's Who for Speakers and Business Professionals and has spoken at events with distinguished guests such as Dr. Ken Blanchard, the late Governor Ann Richards of Texas, Rudolph Giuliani and Jack Canfield, creator and co-founder of Chicken Soup for the Soul.
