CHIVAS USA ORIGINAL FRANCISCO MENDOZA PLAYS HIS 100TH GAME AGAINST KANSAS CITY: Mexican midfielder Francisco Mendoza played his 100th career regular-season match this past Saturday against the Kansas City Wizards, becoming the first player in franchise history to play 100 regular-season games with Chivas USA. The 23-year-old Mendoza, a native of El Salto, Jalisco, has been a member of Chivas USA since the club's inaugural season in 2005 and is currently the club's all-time team leader in regular-season minutes played, with 8,488. A product of the youth system of Mexican sister club Chivas de Guadalajara, which he joined at age 14, Mendoza was acquired by Chivas USA in 2005, prior to the Red-and-White's inaugural season as an expansion team in Major League Soccer. Since then, the Chivas USA Original has played 100 of the 112 regular-season games the team has played. The club will celebrate Mendoza's achievement with a ceremony at midfield prior to the match between Chivas USA and the Los Angeles Galaxy this Thursday night.
