Mississippi Braves News Release

Pearl, MS - The Mississippi Braves announce that Atlanta Braves centerfielder Mark Kotsay will be making a Major League rehab appearance with the M-Braves during the upcoming homestand against the Birmingham Barons.

The Braves take on the Barons in a six-game homestand from Tuesday through Sunday of this week at Trustmark Park. Kotsay is scheduled to play in four or five games during this homestand.

He was acquired by the Braves from Oakland during this past offseason in exchange for former M-Brave Joey Devine and Atlanta farmhand Jamie Richmond.

The former Cal State Fullerton standout was drafted by the Florida Marlins with the ninth overall pick in the 1996 draft. He has spent 12 seasons in the majors with the Marlins, Padres, A's and now the Braves.

Kotsay was hitting .294 with four homers and 21 RBI through 47 games in Atlanta before being placed on the disabled list on May 26th.
