Bridgeport Drops Game, Series To Somerset

Bridgeport, CT - June 15th - The Bridgeport Bluefish lost the rubber match of the series against the Somerset Patriots by a score of 8-4. The Pats took two of three games from the Bluefish to even the season series at three wins each. Michael Ryan had a solid performance for Somerset with five RBIs on the afternoon to help the Pats improve to 29-19 on the season. The Bluefish fall to 25-24, 3.5 games behind the division leading Camden Riversharks.

Ryan finished the day three-for-four with two huge scoring plays. His three-run shot in the third tied the game at three and he later padded a 5-4 Pats lead with a two-run double. Elliot Ayala scored on both of Ryan's big swings and finished the game with three runs scored. Ryan also crossed the plate three times to add to his phenomenal day.

Bobby Darula led the Bluefish going three-for-four with a run. Branden Florence finished with two hits including a second inning solo blast. Travis Ezi hit a solo shot of his own on Brian Adams' (4-2) first pitch of the game.

Adams started and picked up the victory for the Patriots despite the Bluefish long balls. The Somerset southpaw went six innings and allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits with three walks and three strikeouts. Bluefish starter Matt Pike (5-2) worked 6.1 innings and allowed seven runs (two earned) on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts to suffer the loss.

The Bluefish will now travel to York to take on the Revolution to start a seven-game road trip. The last time the two teams met the Bluefish swept the Revs in a three-game set at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Ryan DiPietro (1-1) starts for Bridgeport tomorrow against Dave Gil (0-2) of York.
