Richmond, VA- The Syracuse Chiefs beat the Richmond Braves 9-1 Wednesday at The Diamond. The Chiefs banged out 14 hits to roll past Richmond for the second time in three nights.
The Chiefs struck for two runs in the first inning. Buck Coats knocked in a run with a single and Jeff Bannon produced a run with a sacrifice fly. The Chiefs tacked on three more runs in the third. Bannon chased a run home with a single and Erik Kratz doubled two in. Syracuse stretched their lead to 6-0 in the fifth on a Chip Cannon sacrifice fly. The Braves picked up a run in the sixth on an RBI single by Josh Anderson. The Chiefs played long ball to close the scoring. Cannon blasted a solo home run in the eighth. Russ Adams bashed a two-run homer in the ninth.
Kane Davis pitched seven innings to earn the win. Jonathon Rouwenhorst took the loss. Six Chiefs enjoyed multiple hit nights, led by Adams with three. Scott Thorman had two hits for the Braves.
