Hickory Tops Braves

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves lost another one run heartbreaker this time to the Hickory Crawdads by a final score of 3-2 before 4,403 fans. It was Rome's 14th one run loss this season.

Things looked good early for the home team as Rome took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Michael Fisher walked, Jason Heyward doubled and both later scored on an error by Matt Cavagnaro on a ball hit by Freddie Freeman. Hickory cut the lead in half 2-1 in the fifth on an RBI double by Silvio Pena. In the sixth Hickory tied the game as Cavagnaro reached on an error by Randy Gress and later scored on another RBI double this time by Miles Durham.

The Crawdads took the lead for good in the eighth 3-2 when Cavagnaro scored on a passed ball. Hickory pitching shut down the Braves in the eighth and ninth to preserve the win.

Michael Felix gets the win (2-1), Moises Robles the save (4), and Casey Beck the tough loss for the Braves (0-1).
