Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Lookouts recently have had a flair for the late-inning dramatics, and Saturday night was no exception in a 5-4 win over the Carolina Mudcats at AT&T Field.

The Lookouts started the game off on the right foot, scoring a run on a Craig Tatum RBI single. B.J. Szymanksi added another run for the Lookouts in the second by blasting a booming solo shot.

Carolina countered in the fourth and fifth with runs of their own to tie-up the score, 2-2. A Manuel Mayorson RBI double and Chris Coughlan RBI single highlighted the Mudcats' efforts.

The 2-2 tie would be short-lived, as Michael Griffin nailed a solo shot over the left field wall in the fifth frame to give the Lookouts the temporary lead.

The see-saw battle continued in the sixth, when a Gaby Sanchez two-shot homer gave the Mudcats a 4-3 edge.

Chattanooga tied-up the game, once again, in the bottom half of the sixth on another B.J. Szymanksi solo shot.

The vacillating score would finally settle in the eighth, as the Lookouts mounted yet another come-from-behind victory.

Craig Tatum began the inning by taking a walk. After being lifted for pinch runner Shaun Cumberland, Drew Anderson laid down an effective sacrifice bunt, nearly beating it out. After a Szymanski strikeout, Jose Castro came through in the clutch with a game-winning single up the middle to drive home Cumberland, giving the Lookouts a 5-4 lead.

Despite issuing a leadoff walk to Mayorson, Josh Roenicke (4-0) settled down to retire the final three batters to finalize the win for the Lookouts.

Carolina and Chattanooga will continue their five-game series, tomorrow at 2:15. The featured promotion of the game will be "Dogs on the Diamond." Fans will have the opportunity to bring their dogs to AT&T Field. Festivities will include a pre-game pooch parade, giveaways, and the ability to have your dog's photo displayed on the video board. Tickets for this game or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
