Phantoms Announce Year-End Awards

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Phantoms today presented their annual end-of-season awards before hosting the Albany River Rats in the regular-season finale at the Wachovia Spectrum.

Most Coachable Player - Darroll Powe

Most Consistent Player - Denis Gauthier

Best Defenseman - Denis Gauthier

Rookie of the Year - Kyle Greentree

Leading Scorer - Jared Ross Community Service Award - Jared Ross

Fan's Choice - Denis Gauthier

Unsung Hero - Darroll Powe

Media Award - Ryan Potulny

Toyota Cup - Ryan Potulny

Ross earned the Leading Scorer award by virtue of his 62 points this season, and the Community Service award through his outstanding contributions to community efforts throughout the greater Philadelphia region. The Fan's Choice award was selected in an online vote by Phantoms fans. The Unsung Hero award was selected by the Phantoms Phan Club, and the Media Award by the Phantoms beat writers. Potulny won the Toyota Cup by finishing first in a contest that awards points based on players receiving the first, second or third star of the game. All other awards were selected by the Phantoms coaching staff.

The Phantoms open the 2008 Calder Cup Playoffs on Wednesday night when they begin the East Division Semifinals against the Albany River Rats with Game 1 at the Times Union Center in Albany. Games 2 and 3 will be played next Friday, April 18 and Sunday, April 20, respectively, at the Wachovia Center. Game 2 starts at 7:05 and Game 3 starts at 5:05.
