Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(LANCASTER, CA) - The JetHawks pitching staff held strong yet again Wednesday night. In the final game of the first road trip of the year, Adam Mills hurled a strong five innings and Brian Steinocher went four in relief to help Lancaster to a 4-2 win over the Inland Empire 66ers. The JetHawks finish the road trip 4-3 and head to Lancaster for their home opener tied for a share of first place with Lake Elsinore. That makes for a battle of the two teams tied for first place in the JetHawks' home opener as the Storm help Lancaster kick off a seven-game homestand starting Thursday night.

Inland Empire jumped out to a 1-0 lead through the first two innings, but Mills settled down after that. He went five innings, allowing just the one run and only four hits. Steinocher went the rest of the way for Lancaster, giving up just a run over the final four innings to earn his first save of the season and just the second of his career.

Lancaster took the lead in the sixth inning. The game was tied 1-1 when Lars Anderson and Jon Still reached base with one out. Zak Farkes pulled a double down the left field line to drive home the go-ahead run. Daniel Nava followed with a single to score Still, putting Lancaster up by two. Still added an RBI single in the ninth for insurance.

Reid Engel was a catalyst for the JetHawks at the top of the order, going 4-5 with a run driven in. He's now hit safely in each of the first seven games for Lancaster. Still had three hits and Nava added two in the win.

The JetHawks return to the Antelope Valley for the home opener Thursday night against Lake Elsinore. Jimmy James will start for Lancaster against the Storm's Cory Luebke. The game starts at 7:00 with the pre-game show on Magic 1340 and www.JetHawks.com beginning at 6:45. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free JetHawks magnet schedule presented by L.A./Palmdale Regional Airport.
