Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release
DAVENPORT, IA -- The Quad Cities River Bandits defeated the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 6-1 Sunday afternoon at Modern Woodman Park. Adron Chambers and Charlie Pelt each drove in a pair of runs to pace their offense. The Timber Rattlers and River Bandits split the season-opening four game series.
A two-out RBI single by Domnit Bolivar in the bottom of the first inning put Quad Cities (2-2) on the board.
Wisconsin (2-2) used their speed to tie the game in the top of the third. Daniel Carroll singled and stole second. It was the fourth stolen base in as many games for the Rattler centerfielder. Calvin Beamon singled off the glove of first baseman Pelt and Carroll raced home with the tying run.
But, the tie did not last long. Rattler starting pitcher Rob Harmon retired the first batter of the bottom of the third. Then, the next five River Bandit hitters collected hits. A two-run double by Pelt and an RBI single by Charlie Kingrey accounted for the three runs in the inning.
Quad Cities padded their lead with a run in the sixth. Mike Folli tripled with one out. A sacrifice fly by Chambers knocked in Folli for a 5-1 River Bandit lead.
An RBI single by Chambers in the eighth inning tacked on a final run for the River Bandits.
Wisconsin heads home to host the Clinton LumberKings in the first game of the season on Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Juan Ramirez makes his Midwest League debut for the Timber Rattlers as the starting pitcher. Clinton counters with Jose Quintero. Game time is 6:35pm.
