RailHawks To Host NCAA Champions Wake Forest University
March 28, 2008 - USL First Division (USL-1)
North Carolina FC News Release
CARY, NC - Just one day after hosting Major League Soccer's New York Red Bulls, the Carolina RailHawks will take the field against 2007 NCAA Champions Wake Forest University. The Demon Deacons return to WakeMed Soccer Park after winning the 2007 NCAA Men's College Cup last December. The game will take place on Field Two at WakeMed Soccer Park at 7:00 PM and tickets for the event are $5.
"It is an excellent opportunity for us to learn how to play in back to back games and when our bodies are fatigued," said RailHawks head coach Scott Schweitzer. "It will also give us the first look at some of the top players on the best team in the country. Lastly, this will be another game to get a bit more familiar with each other and our game fitness."
The first time the RailHawks and the Demon Deacons met was four days into the life of the newly minted Carolina RailHawks franchise. Wake Forest won that contest 3-1 and it was the beginning of a difficult preseason for the RailHawks. This year the tables are turned as the RailHawks already have two wins under their belt and have been at training camp for a full two weeks.
RailHawks fans will have a chance to take a better look at the 2008 Carolina RailHawks team as well as see some of the Cary RailHawks U-23 players like Forward Zach Schilawski and Defender Evan Brown who both have committed to returning to the RailHawks' PDL team this season.
