Over $3,500 Raised For Make-A-Wish Foundation

March 26, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Stockton Thunder News Release

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, are pleased to announce that, at the March 14, 2008 game against the Fresno Falcons, the Thunder and its fans were able to make a child's wish come true.

Through the generosity of the 7,058 fans in attendance, the Thunder was able to raise over $3,500 to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation, surpassing the threshold of $2,500, the point at which wishes can be granted.

Throughout the game, the Thunder urged the fans to "help make history," making numerous announcements and showing several short videos on the Scoreboard. Additionally, in telethon-like fashion, the Thunder kept track of the fans' progress throughout the game. All fans donating at least ten ($10.00) dollars were entered into a raffle to win autographed Thunder paraphernalia.

The response by the Thunder fans was overwhelming. "We have never seen the change boxes so full," said Sarah Jimenez, Public Relations Manager, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Sacramento and Northeastern California.

"Once again, the Thunder fans have shown why they are the best fans in the league, hands down. Not just because of their enthusiasm and support, but also for their generosity," said Thunder manager of public relations Jeff Zavatsky.

The Thunder has led the ECHL in attendance for two consecutive seasons and drew 244,085 fans to Stockton Arena in 2006-07. Season tickets, mini plans, group and individual tickets for 2007-08 are on sale now. For more information about tickets, merchandise, or other inquiries contact the Stockton Thunder offices at (209) 373-1500 or visit www.stocktonthunder.com.
