Baltimore, MD - The San Jose Earthquakes select midfielder Shea Salinas in the 15th overall pick at the 2008 Major League Soccer SuperDraft held today Friday January 18th, 2008 in Baltimore, Maryland.

"We have chosen an athletic, wide attacking player," stated John Doyle, General Manager of Soccer Operations of the San Jose Earthquakes. "Shea comes from a school that has produced great players such as Clint Dempsey and Ricardo Clark."

Salinas is from Furman University where he played 77 games, scored 14 goals and had 21 assist in his college career. Salinas, 21, was named to the NSCAA All-American Third Team and NSCAA All-South Region First Team in 2007. In 2006 and 2007 the Texas native was also named to the All-Southern Conference First Team.
