BOISE, Idaho (December 31, 2007) - As your Idaho Stampede host the Tulsa 66ers this Friday, January 4 at 7 p.m., a jersey silent auction will be held during the game to benefit pediatric programs at St. Luke's Idaho Elks Rehabilitation Services (SLIERS).
The SLIERS Seattle SuperSonics Affiliate Night on Friday, January 4 will feature Stampede players wearing Sonics jerseys, while the 66ers will wear Dallas Mavericks jerseys. Each Sonics jersey worn during the game by a Stampede player will be available for bidding during a silent auction throughout the night. All proceeds from the silent auction will benefit pediatric programs at SLIERS.
In addition to the silent auction, and as a part of D-League NBA Nights presented by adidas, there will be a lot of additional entertainment intertwined with the basketball action on the floor. Squatch, the Sonics mascot, will be on hand to perform throughout the game, and there will be Sonics giveaways and other in-game elements that will add to the NBA-like game experience.
NBA Nights is a league-wide initiative to celebrate the relationship between the NBA and the NBA Development League, and features D-League teams wearing the uniforms of the NBA-affiliated teams. The program will also see dance teams and mascots from around the NBA, as well as NBA team giveaways.
"More than 10 percent of NBA players are former D-Leaguers and there are 10 current NBA players on assignment playing in the D-League right now," said NBA Development League President Dan Reed. "NBA Nights are yet another example of the D-League's strong bond with the NBA, and provide a fantastic experience for our fans."
In addition to Friday's contest against the 66ers, the Stampede host three other games leading up to the NBA D-League Showcase from January 14-17. On Saturday, January 5, Idaho plays the Bakersfield Jam during the DeMeyer Furniture Mountain Home Air Power Night. The Colorado 14ers come into town on Friday, January 11, and the Portland Trail Blazers Affiliate Night will be the highlight as Idaho takes on the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Saturday, January 12.
