Montreal, Quebec, Canada-Center Dokun Akingbade scored 18 points and keyed a third-quarter surge as the Vermont Frost Heaves defeated the Montreal Royal 90-69 at John Abbott College on Friday night.The Vermont defense held the Royal to eight points in the third quarter, while Antonio Burks added 12 points on the game, Dwuan Rice chipped in 11 points, and Issa Konare added 10. The defending ABA Champions ran their record to 11-2 with the victory.
Tommy Mitchell's 24 points led the Royal, which fell to 3-10.
The Frost Heaves return to Vermont for a 2:05 p.m. date at Burlington's Memorial Auditorium with the Quebec Kebekwa tomorrow afternoon. Ilze Luneau and her Basketball Family will perform their hoops magic at halftime.
While Vermont was defeating Montreal, the Kebs were in Manchester, coming back from an 18-point deficit to defeat the Millrats 112-110.
