December 17, 2007 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Iowa Chops News Release
Des Moines, IA - The Iowa Stars today announced that they have signed forward Matt Beaudoin to a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO) and recalled goalie Steve Silverthorn from the Idaho Steelheads.
Beaudoin, 23, registered 37 points (17-20-37) in 24 games with the Dayton Bombers this season after playing just one game at the start of the season with the Las Vegas Wranglers.
"After calling around, Matt's name kept coming up when discussing players and I value (Dayton General Manager) Don MacAdam's opinion," Iowa Stars Director of Hockey Operations Scott White said. "It is all about opportunity for players and this is a chance for Matt to show his abilities at the AHL level. I expect him to suit up for our 3 games this week."
The 5-9, 190 pound forward is a three-time Ohio State scholar athlete and academic all-Big Ten selection. In 149 games at Ohio State Beaudoin recorded 89 points (52-37-89) and 118 PIM.
Silverthorn will return to Iowa after being loaned to Idaho on October 31st. The 6-2 goalie started two games for the Stars this season where he had a .833 save percentage. In 13 games with Idaho Silverthorn has a .891 save percentage and 3.01 GAA with one assist.
