Bulldogs doubled-up by Admirals

HAMILTON, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs fell 2-1 to the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday Night at Copps Coliseum, dropping their record to 8-10-0-3 on the season. Marvin Degon's goal at 10:45 of the second period allowed all of the 3,929 fans at Copps Coliseum to throw their stuffed toys onto the ice in support of the Bulldogs annual Toy Toss.

Milwaukee jumped out to a 2-0 first-period lead, scoring two power-play goals courtesy of Antti Pihlstrom and Janne Niskala. Pihlstrom got the Admirals on the board with his ninth goal of the campaign at the 3:04 mark from Niskala and Rich Peverley. Niskala then doubled Milwaukee's lead at 17:17 of the frame, recording his seventh goal of the season on a 5-on-3 power play.

Hamilton cut into Milwaukee's lead on two-man advantage at 10:45 of the second period when Marvin Degon one-timed a shot off the crossbar and in past netminder Pekka Rinne. Sergei Kostitsyn and Eric Manlow earned assists on Degon's fourth goal of the campaign.

There was no scoring in the third period.

Bulldogs netminder Yann Danis made 32 saves on 34 shots in a losing effort, while Rinne made 23 saves on 24 shots to earn the victory for the Admirals.

Hamilton went 1-for-8 with the man advantage while Milwaukee was 2-for-8 on the power play.

There were 2,184 stuffed toys tossed onto the ice immediately following the Degon goal in the second period. All of the stuffed animals collected will be donated to local not-for-profit groups in the Hamilton area and will be distributed to families in need for Christmas.

The defending Calder Cup Champion Hamilton Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday, December 11th at 7:00 p.m. when they visit the Peoria Rivermen at Carver Arena.
