ADMIRALS RBK/AHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE

Sophomore pro center Blair Jones led the Admirals with seven points in three games last week. On Wednesday night in a 7-3 victory over Philadelphia, Jones netted two goals and added an assist on the eventual game-winning tally for first star honors. After chipping in an assist in Friday's 4-2 victory over Springfield, he added another three-point performance in the rematch against the Falcons with three assists in a 6-2 victory. Jones and linemates Justin Keller and Norm Milley found good chemistry last week, combining for six goals and ten assists in three games.

ADMIRALS AMONG THE AHL LEADERS

- Kyle Wanvig is second in scoring (26 points), tied for second in goals (11), tied for seventh in assists (15) and tied for third in power play goals (6).

- Jay Leach is tied for sixth in plus/minus (+11).

- Jonathan Boutin ranks fifth in save percentage (.925) and 14th in goals-against average (2.52).

ADMIRALS' LOG

- The Admirals have out-scored their opponents 19-8 over their season-high four-game winning streak.

- Norfolk's power play has gone from a 9.0% efficiency rating and 28 th place ranking in the AHL on November 7 to a current 16.4% efficiency rating and 14th place ranking.

- Norfolk has not allowed its opponent more than one power play goal in each of the past six games and has killed 17 of 20 ( 85.0%) opponent power plays in that span.

- One week after getting the vast majority of their offensive output from one line, the Admirals spread out their attack in three games against two of the top teams in the AHL. Two weeks ago during a four-game road trip, only seven of the Admirals' 21 skaters had a hand in Norfolk's 34 points - including 25 points by Mathieu Darche, Kyle Wanvig and Craig MacDonald alone. This past week in three home games, 15 of Norfolk's 18 skaters accounted for Norfolk's 48 points and ten different Admirals scored at least one of Norfolk's 17 goals. Eight players had at least three points on their ledger last week.

- In one week, the Admirals nearly doubled the amount of first period goals that they had scored in the entire season. Entering this past week, Norfolk had 12 first period goals. The total now stands at 22 first period goals following a five-goal explosion on Wednesday night against Philadelphia and a four-goal outburst on Friday night against Springfield.

- No team in the AHL this season has scored more first period goals in a game than Norfolk's five on Wednesday night. The only more productive period in the AHL this season was a six-goal second period by Milwaukee on October 24. Norfolk's five-goal period also marked the fifth time in AHL Admirals' history that Norfolk had scored that many in a single period, tying a franchise record.

- Kyle Wanvig was held off the scoresheet on Friday night, ending a seven-game scoring streak (8G, 5A), a franchise-record-tying and AHL season-high six-game goal-scoring streak (8G) and a five-game multipoint streak (7G, 4A).

- Craig MacDonald also did not pick up a point on Friday night, ending a five-game point and assist streak (2G, 7A) dating back to his first game with the team November 14 at Hartford.

- Admirals netminder Jonathan Boutin has won all five games he has started at Scope this season.

- Rookie LW Rob Klinkhammer notched his first professional goal Wednesday night against Falcons netminder Jeff Deslauriers. Klinkhammer also had two assists in that game for his first professional multipoint game and scored again on Saturday against Springfield.

- Two Admirals tripled their season point totals this past week. Karl Stewart scored two goals and added three assists to bump his season totals to three goals and four assists. Justin Keller had a goal and three assists to increase his totals this campaign to two goals and four assists.

- Blair Jones (Wednesday vs. Philadelphia) and Norm Milley (Saturday vs. Springfield) both had two-goal performances this week. Entering the week, Kyle Wanvig had Norfolk's only multiple-goal games this season.

- The same five players were on the ice for Norfolk's second, third and fourth goals of the game in the first period on Friday night against Springfield: Chris Lawrence, Rob Klinkhammer, Jeff Campbell, Vladimir Mihalik and Jay Leach.

- The Admirals are averaging 4062 fans per game through their first nine home games - 380 more fans per game than last year's attendance through nine home games.
