RoadRunners Acquire O'Connor From Las Vegas

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL have acquired forward Sean O'Connor from the Las Vegas Wranglers in exchange for future considerations. O'Connor has agreed to terms on a contract with the club for the upcoming 2007-08 ECHL season.
O'Connor, 25, appeared in just five games with the Wranglers in 2006-07 following his recovery from season-ending surgery during the 2006 Kelly Cup Playoffs. The Victoria, British Columbia native and sixth-year professional tallied 19 goals and 33 points in his first season with Las Vegas in 2005-06, and recorded two goals, six points, and 29 penalty minutes in 12 post-season games before missing the remainder of the playoffs due to injury.
O'Connor posted career-bests with 20 goals and 142 penalty minutes in 46 games with the San Diego Gulls in 2004-05. He has also logged a total of 51 games in the American Hockey League with the San Antonio Rampage and Cincinnati Mighty Ducks.
O'Connor totaled four goals, eight points, and finished with a plus-six rating in seven career games against the RoadRunners.
"Acquiring Sean gives us a true power forward up front," said RoadRunners Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Church. "His physical presence and willingness to go to the tough areas of the ice to create offense will compliment our forwards well."
O'Connor was selected by the Florida Panthers in the third round (#82 overall) at the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. He has recorded 55 goals, 40 assists, 95 points, and 565 penalty minutes in 214 career games.
In a separate transaction, the RoadRunners have agreed to terms with forward Justin Maiser on a contract for the 2007-08 ECHL season. Maiser was acquired from the Dayton Bombers on Aug. 30 in exchange for the ECHL rights to forward Justin Aikins, Chanse Fitzpatrick, and future considerations.
O'Connor and Maiser join a RoadRunners' roster that already includes forwards Cam Paddock, Scott Kelman, Daniel Sisca, Jeff Kyrzakos, Chris Stevens, and Mitch Carefoot; defensemen Dave Pszenyczny, Brian Yandle, Nathan Schwartzbauer, Reagan Rome, and Nick Toneys; and goaltender Cody Rudkowsky.
The RoadRunners will visit the Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League in the "Battle of the Desert" pre-season series at 7:05 p.m. Oct. 12 and 13 at the Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley.
