Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Indians enjoyed the International League's second-best attendance increase in 2007, jumping 10 percent from an average of 7,608 to 8,383. The Tribe hosted 586,785 fans at Victory Field this past year -- its best regular-season attendance total since 2001.

"The Indians would like to thank our fans for coming out in such tremendous numbers during the 2007 season," Tribe Vice President & General Manager Cal Burleson says. "Our entire organization, including Manager Trent Jewett, his staff and the players, appreciate the wonderful support we receive."

The Indians played four home games in front of at least 14,000 people this past season, six contests in front of at least 13,000 and 10 tilts in front of at least 12,000. The Tribe also averaged over 10,000 fans per game during a 28-game stretch from June 7 to Aug. 13.

The Indians recorded three official sellouts (capacity = 14,500) during the campaign, with an Independence Day gathering of 14,931 topping the charts.

"We also want to thank the Pittsburgh Pirates for providing us with another competitive team in 2007," Burleson adds. "Our 39-33 record at Victory Field this season gives us a 120-97 mark at home during our three years with Pittsburgh, and we know our fans appreciate the opportunity to witness winning baseball."

Indianapolis will entertain Norfolk on April 11 in the 2008 home opener at Victory Field. The first homestand includes four games against the Tides (April 11-14) and four contests vs. the Pawtucket Red Sox (April 15-18).
